Swelling in gums

Swelling in gums is caused due to accumulation of plaque between teeth and gums.Normally, healthy gums are pinkish. When the gums are diseased they become red in color .And, inflammation (swelling) is seen with some or all the gums in the mouth. It eventually leads to bleeding from them.

Brushing too hard

this can cause traumatic injury to the gums. This injury can lead to bleeding. It can happen while brushing and accidentally hitting gums by brush or eating something hard and you may get a minor gum injury.

So, it is recommended to use soft bristle toothbrush and follow proper brushing technique. Ideally, brushing should be done in a circular motion so that all the teeth surfaces are covered, and plaque can be removed from the gums also. You can watch any video foe how to brush properly/ brushing technique.

Always change your toothbrush in every 6 months.

Smoking leads to swelling of the gums. Nicotine present in these products resists the blood flow to gums which is not good for oral health.
